Gov. D. C Heyward, of Columbia,

Gov. Heyward s many friends were de
lighted to see him at bis old home again,
though thtey regret exceedingly that he
will not move back to Colleton lifter the
expiration of his terra of office. It is
understood tiiat he will make his heme
in Columbia.
Mrs A. M Henderson and daughter,
Miss Julia left Walterboro Saturday for
Charleston where they will make their
home in the future. A. F. Henderson,
the popnlar and efficient assht mt cashier
of the Colleton Banking Company, hits
accepted a position with Pringle Bros.
Hewill leave in a few days for Charleston
also. The people if Walterboro regret
very much to lose Mrs Henderson and
her charming family for they have been
identified with the town for many
years and are universally loved by all

Mayor of Walterboro. Nearly All of the
Wardens Also Re-Elected.
The election for Inteudant and War
dens of the town of Walterboro was
held yesterday. While there was a
great deal of interest manifested by the
friends of the varions candidates, yet
everything passed off quietly. The
greaWsf interest centered in the race
for mayor. Jno. H. Peurifoy, the in
cumbent, was opposed by E. B. Webb,
W. A. Black and A. W. Bnnton.
When the votes were coanted it was
found that Mr Peurifov received 78
votes. Mr Webb 03, Mr Black 8 and Mr
Banton 3.
The race for the six places in the
town council was also quite interesting,
there being 16 candidates in the field.
