It seems now that beyond donbt Walterboro will have good, fast baseba’l this summer. Many loyal fans in the city have been clamor ing for some time for steps to be taken toward organizing a team. A meeting of tho?e interested in baseball was called yesterday evening and a number of both players and fanatics of the game res ponded. An organization was entered into and nominations were called for, to fill the positions’of manager, captain and treasurer of the team. Mr Grubbs was elected as captain; and Herman G; Orosby treasurer. A number present expressed a willingness to help the team financially and to accord it loyal sap port. Walterboro has material for a fast amateur team t6at can ha.dly be eqaalled by any team of its size In the State, and if the citizens will accord the team support no reason exist' why the season should not be a great success. The manager is now in correspondence with other managers and games will probably be arranged in the near future.
