Miss Rena Wolfe and Maud Pad gett returned last week from a very pleasant visit to friends in Ehrhardt Miss Agnes Smith, a charming voung lady of Ruffin, is anticipating an extended visit to friends in Flori da, in a few weeks. Miss Cora Rlack has just returned from a few week's visit to relatives in Walterboro. ^ We are delighted to know that Miss Gertrude Carter, who has been criticallv ill for teveral weeks, is rap idly:-convalescing. We regret very much to say chat the annual picnic at W E Smith’s has been called off. The folks in and around here, are very much interested in the building of the new Methodist church, which is in progress now and the ladies are very busy in making funds for this purpose. We are very sorry to hear of the aenous illness of our friend and phy sician, Dr J P Herndon. There will be an ice cream festival j^ivti) here lor the church, on Friday night. May the 25th. Everolody is cordially invited to come and bring well loaded purses. Cream will be served at Padgett’s Park, and every body is looking forward to an enjoy able time. ThtPuegro was a desperate character and is said to have killed Iwo negroes, a man and woman at Tifton several weeks ago. It was for that crime that the ofticer was trying to arrest him.
