Cod liver oil is ex tremely nourishing, but it has to be emulsified before we can digest it. Scott's Emulsion combines the best oil with the valuable hypo- phosphites so that it is easy to digest and does far more good than the oil alone could. That makes Scott's Emulsion the most strengthening, nourishing food - medi cine In the world. Sand for free sumpto. SCOTT & BOWNE, ^-00-415 Poarl Street New York *>r»H A i .OO* All driiffcfeta Reply to “Sand Hill Case." Editor Press and Standard: Please allow me space in your valuable paper to reply to “Sand Hill Case,” signed by John II. Hiptt. My views are exactly opposite to Brother Hiott’s. 1 think that he has a Bible and should adhere to the teachings of same. It seems from his article that he wants to legislate the whiskey out of existence. Now Brother Hiott •most know or believe that God made man and.plac*'d him here on earth with the good things and the evil things set before him that he could rtake his choice of the good things or < the evil thing*. Whiskey is not the ‘Only evil , thing that we have. We have others equally evil, and now Brother Hiott why not club all the evil things that God puts here, wipe them all out, for it will be just as easily done. As you are one man that has come to the front you must be ttye engine or the would be county chairman and in my humble opinion you are on the wrong road to good government, therefore it will be necessary that you reverse your engine, lubricating all of.her journals with purer and genuine dispensary oil, if a Y should not be convenient, open her throttle wide aud let her fly to the beuetit of all mankind, making up what time you have lost in trying and doing, to gel people to legislate the evel things that God pnts here, ter the purifica tion of men’s souls, out of existence. The eooner we all learn to be recon ciled with God’s work the better it will be for each and every individual. Now Brother Hiott, 1 will give you my opinion and the remedy for the whiskey traffic. Educate the morals of the rising generation; let all parents and all men that want good government, whiskey traflBc killed, they have the remedy at their command. Train your children around the fireside, teach them not to use whiskey and advise their good piowys mothers tc teach their daughters not to associate with, anyone who indulge in the use of whiskey as a beverage and advise them to stay in their company no longer than “Jack stayed ,1 in the army ” which wag,no longer than he could get out And if the good pious mother has a husband who is a sub ject to the thiiittt of whikey, pray to God, not to remove the whiskey or put it out ofWjiusband’s reach, for that is imponible, it being one of ' God'i evil things, bat on the other hand pray to Gcd to give her hus band power, will and determination -ta overcome the thirst for the whis key. New Brother Hiott, again I think the dispensary law which you claim as “This degrading, soul destroying, God dishonoring law,* “••good a law as the State of Sooth Cwolin* has ever had. It halpelhe . •* *r«in »i takii g of lh»-rvil nnlil tb^v *»r- e at tie years of accountability. «• it gives the parents 21 years to ik on their boy and distilling in m temperance and when- he has had 21 years of example and precept < m parents [who wish good gov- t-r mentfand baa*always stood stead- W, he will hardly go astray^ If 1 e should it would only be of short duration t-e oie he auuiti be back to the fold. Brother Hiott, I tee that \o\\ re-_ commend “ml er men for delegates to the county convention.'’ I would suggest if you hhould fail to find a sufficient number who are opposed to the dispenairv law substitute dispen sary men for they are noted for sober ity. Now as to magistrates and county officers: All that we need is honest n:en regardless of their religion or political views, b-t when we come to representatives and senators send delegates to the county convention send representatives and senators io thefState Capital who will ever hold up the dispensary law until the parent* and well wishers of good government can educate the morals of this grand old State and then the dispensarv yi\\ die from actual starvation. [ Now as to the United States Senator: He stands today without a p«r in Americ*; he has done more for South Carolina than .any other man who was born upon her soil. £outh Carolina has prospered under the laws that he has been instrumen tal in making. The State today stands without a peer in the United States find B U Tillman should have credit We should praise and honor the bridge that carries us over safely. He has done the work through storms of ridicule aud criticisms. So let us / G • have him one more term as senator, ai the expiration of which term I do believe him fit and competent to take the seat of the Chief Magistrate of the United States. Auchtermuchty Is the happy town which every Scot, proud of his unpro nounceable longue, uses as a shibbo leth to lest the linguistic skill of the southrou. If you. cannot say "Auchter muchty” you are still an uneducated barbarian. The meaning of the word happens to be as monstrous as Its souud. “The high ground of the wild fow” Is not a name one would choose for a garden city. People, however, are found to flock to It as a summer re sort, and as it has a lover’s pool, the town has probably ^attractions more real than its name. In the early part of last century Auchtermuchty went bankrupt and was deprived of all its property except the jail and one or two other assets of an equally necessary character. It la now rich, peaceful and radical. Nothing hit ever equalled it Nothing can ever aurpass it Dr. King’s New Discover; fwCEjra-j*. A Perfect For AH Throat and Core: Lung Trouble*. John M.
