Distinguished Patronage.
The next attraction trader auspices of
the Walterboro Lyceum, will be given
Saturday night, March 81st, at the
Court house.
The Misses Turner, and Misses Estes,
who compose the Southern Trio, are
Georgia girls of culture and refinement,
who are introducing a delightful novelty
to the public in their qnaint negro melo
dies with banjo accompaniment, and
snng with a grace and charm peculiarly
their own.
Their concerts, in Washington, New
York, and New Port, the past two sea
sons, have attracted a most distinguish
ed patronage.
Mart King is not an elocutionist
neither is he a reader, because his man
ner and his methods are altogether dif
ferent from those of the ordinary ly-
ceum entertainer. Mr King is essential
ly a story teller. Some of his tales are
called from books, and some from real
life v They all have the saving grace of
humor, and are laid before his au
diences in a way that shows familiarity
with the characters with which he deals.
1 he Irish philosophy of Mr Dooley, the
simple gnile and qnaint expressions of
the Sonthern negro, and his more so
phisticated brother of the North, the
business sense and the dialect difficul
ties of the Hebrew are brought before
his hearers as they appear in living ex
amples of the types which ha portrays.
He is above all things a refined hu
morist. He does not have to reeort to
anything coarse and objectionable to
get a laugh- He is quick to perceive
the humoroust and lodieraus in every
day affairs of life, and the happy fiaeulty
