Poor health follows poor blood ; Scott’s Emulsion makes the blQod pure. One reason why SCOTT’S EMULSION is such a great aid is because it passes so quickly into the blood, k is partly di gested before it enters the stomach; a double advan tage in this. Less work for the stomach; quicker and more direct benefits. To get the greatest amount of good with the least pos sible ejfort is the desire of everyone tn poor health. Deafness Cannot be Cared by local applications, as they cannot reach the diseased portion of the ear. There is only one way to cure deafness, and that is by constitutional ^remedies. Deafness is caused by an Inflamed con dition of the mucous lining of the Eu stachian 1 ube. When this tube is in flamed you have a rumbling sound or im- r perfecl hearing, and when it is entirely closed, deafness is the result, and unless the Inflamation can betaken out and this tube restored to its normal condition, hearing will be destroyed forever; nine cases out of ten are caused by Catarrh, which is nothing hut an Inflamed condi tion of the mucous surfaces. In some ways nn oyster is smarter then the man who eats him, but in one respect the consumer bus his victim Beaten in the matter of wisdom. The consumer has learned the art of “mak ing np” to conceal his aire; the oyster 0 h.n not. Any one who wishes to do so can And out just how old nn oyster a. The lines in the groove of the of the shell tell the whole sto- »y. These lines arc a true index to the number of layers composing the *In-ll, being, in fact, nothing else than ibeir attenuated tails. One of these layers grows esH-h year. and. no matter how bard the sensitive oyster may try to keep it from showing, it is bound to overlap its predecessor and leave a ridge whirl), uo doubt, is just as an noying to the oyster trilio us an an nual wrinkle would be to the human race. Up to the time of nn oyster’s matu rity these layers are arranged with reg ularity, but after that they fairly pile over each other, Just ns if the little bivalve’s birthplace had crowded upon each other so rapidly that he didn’t have time to spread out one new plate before another was right at his heels. An oyster conies of age when he Is four yean old. Coming of age in the oyster kingdom means that he Is old enough to take care of a family and go to market. Going to market is a disastrous undertaking and is gener ally the lust of him, for n four-year- old oyster is particularly palatable, and people do not hesitate to pay a pretty good price for a pint or a quart of him. By this It must uut be inferred that after an oyster has passed the four layer period and has five, ten or even a dozen wwlnkles on Lis shell he Is a hack numt>er and fit for nothing bat to keep on accumulating wrinkles until he dies of old age. In deed, there are records of oysters be ing eaten Just after celebrating their thirtieth birthday, and in most cases they formed quite a delicious meal. This Is an unusual age for an oyster to attain, because few of them are giv en an opportunity to live so long. If left to enjoy life In his ow*n quiet way It is quite probable that the oyster would live to become an octogenarian or everf a centenarian. — New York Tresa. .
