Impoverished soil, like impov
erished blood, needs a proper
fertilizer. A chemist by analyz
ing the soil can tell you what
fertilizer to use for different
products.
• If your blood is impoverished
your doctor will tell you what
you need to fertilize it and give
it the rich, red corpuscles that
are lacking in it. It may be you
need a tonic, but more likely you
need a concentrated fat food,
and fat is the element lacking
i
in your system.
There is no fat food that is
so easily digested and assimi
lated as
Scott's Emulsion
of Cod Liver Oil
V
It will nourish and strengthen
the body when milk and cream
fail to do it. Scott’s Emulsion
c
is always the same; always
palatable arid always beneficial
where the body is wasting from
any cause, either in children
or adults.

Students Discuss Needs.
Nashville, March 3.—The picked stu
dents of COO North American colleges
to the number of more than 3,000, now
meeting In Nashville at the conven
tlon of the student volunteer move
ment for foreign missions, spent the
forenoon Saturday in considering the
necessity for a strong and loyal home
base if an adequate campaign is to
be waged for the complete spreading
of the Christian propaganda through
out all non-Christian lands.

^5 * 7“*..!^"! “«"> o" Wednesday night, died at
.04825, its distance from the sun at
perihelion Is 459,507,700 miles and
at aphelion 500,100,180 ml lea. Between
Its greatest and least distances, there
fore, there Is a difference of 40,502,420
miles, or about oue-half the earth's
mean distance from the sun. The In
clination of Jupiter’s orbit to the plana
of the ecliptic being only 1 degree 18
minutes 41 seconds, or less than that
of any of the other large planets with
the exception of Uranus, the planet
never departs much from the ecliptic,
and hence It was called by the ancients
the “ecliptic planet" Its period of
revolution round the sun la 11 years
314.8 days.
The inclination of Its axis of rotation
being nearly at right angles to the
plane of Its orbit, there are practically
no seasons In this distant world, and
the only variation In the heat and light
at any point on Its surface would be
that due to the comparatively small
variation In Its distance from the sun
referred to above. Its mean distance
from the sun being 5.2028 times the
earth's mean distance from the sun, it
follows that the heat and light re
ceived by Jupiter are 27 times (5.2
squared) less than the earth receives.
The amount of heat received from the
eun by this planet is very amall, aud
wore it constituted like the earth Its
surface should be perpetually covered
by frost and snow. Far from this be
ing the case, the telescope shows Its
Atmosphere to be In a state of constant
and wonderful change.
These extraordinary changes cannot
possibly be due to the aolar boat, and
they have suggested the Idea that the
planet may perhaps be In a redhot
state, & miniature aun—In fact, glow
ing with inherent heat The greet bril
liancy of lta surface, the “albedo,” ae
it la called, and Ite small density—lees
than that of the sun—are facta In favor
of this hypothesis. As the attraction
of Jupiter’s enormous mass would ren
der the materials near Its center of
much greater density than those near
Its surface, the latter must be consMer-
1 ably lighter than water and may pos
sibly be Id the gaseous state. .
