SHIED im LIFE

•—That’s what a prominent
druggist said of Scott’s
Emulsion a short time
ago. As a rule we don’t
use or refer to testimonials
in addressing the public,
but the above remark and
similar expressions are
made so often in connec
tion with Scott’s Emulsion
that they are worthy of
occasional note. F rom
infancy to old age Scott’s
Emulsion offers a reliable
means of remedying im
proper and weak develop
ment, restoring lost flesh
and vitality, and repairing
waste. The action of
Scott’s Emulsion is no
* * . n
more of a secret than the
cbmposition of the Emul
sion itself. What it does
it does through nourish
ment—the kind of nourish
ment that cannot be ob
tained in ordinary food.
No system is too weak or
delicate to retain Scott’s
Emulsion apd gather good
from it.

The Reproof.
During the French revolution a priest
rode In a tumbrel to the guillotine with
two pereone—one a marquis, the other

through the crowded streets the dtl-

“Down with you. beasts of the aris

The marquis smiled proudly, but tha
criminal was vexed.
“My good friends,” he cried, “I am
no aristocrat. I am a thief.”
Then the priest touched hla arm gen

Spoiled Her Beauty.
Harriett Howard, of 209 W 84th St.,
New York, at one time had her beauty
spoi'ed with skin trouble, tbe writes:

BABIES IN HOLIlS.
Where Caraad* lafaata Rest While

I have gone into a field in Uganda
and there found one of our women at
work with a hoe, writes a missionary
sister In Donahoe's. I asked her where
her baby Marla was, and she pointed
to a spot at some distance where the
banana trees were thick. I walked
under the shade,, and in vain I sought
tbs Infant The mother was greatly
amused and urged me to search fur
ther, assuring me that the little one
was not far away and was fast asleep.
I had to “give up,” so the mother took
me by tbe hand and led me to a bit of
bark cloth on the ground. Under this
rag was the crown of the baby’s head,
while the body was In a bole deep
enough for the feet to rest on the
ground. To my surprise and expostu
lations she said In her own language:
’Tills is a good custom. When a
Uganda woman goes to hoe It is not
good for her baby to He asleep on the
ground, as it might injure itself by
rolling, or, If It awoke, it might crawl
away. Therefore we make a hole like
this and line it with soft, clean leaves
and put our baby safely Into It so that
it can neither crawl out nor roll away,
and we know exactly where to find It
when we come from the fields.” She
•aid it was perfectly safe from wild
beasts, because It was midday.
