Several candidates for state offices
today received ? unique inquiry as to
their positions on certain questions.
Thb inquiry was from a woman voter
in Union and was accompanied by tha

A marriage of much interest to the
young tolk of Monarch took place last
Sunday afternoon when Miss Annie
Shirley and Mr. William Crocker,
along with a few friends, drove to the
home of Rev. L. L. Wagnon and were
united in marriage by him. Miss
Shirley is the charming daughter .?f
Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Shirley and the
sweet alto singer of Mon-Aetna choir.
Mr. Crocker is the. oldest son of Mr
and Mrs. J. J. Crocker and is vc y
popular and much liked by his many
friends. We extend congratulations
to Mr. and Mrs. Crocker and they are
resting up a few ^lays with relatives.

Your correspondent made a flying
visit to Joncsville last Sunday to visit
hiB aunt, Miss Sallie Chalk, who is
now a shut-in since her recent illness,
althouh quite cheerful, still she
does not like the confinement.
All the county candidates spoke at
Monarch last Saturday night. Every
speaker for magistrate made his usual
speech. Mr. Askew, supervisor,
only spoke a few minutes. Candidates
for treasurer also made a speech

the house also made good speeches.
The speakers for .sheriff also showed
up nicely. It seems seme of them
were excited as they spoke of running
for magistrate. Mr. Spencer
did well, also Mr. Godshall and Mr.
Leonard made good speeches. Mr.

speeches.
Mr. Voting led off for state senate
ar.d lie made a good speech. Col. Duncan
came next and ho always has
something inteiesting to say. Dr.

ar.d put forth his vows in a clear,
forceful speech. He closed amid applause.

and Mrs. Mason Wright.
