Notice is hereby given: That a Special Election for Union County in the State aforesaid, will be held at the voting precincts in said county of Union, prescribed by law on Tuesday, May 2nd, 1922, upon the issuance of Bonds under the terms of the following Act passed by the General Assembly of South Carolina at the regular session of 1922, and duly approved by the Governor of the State of South Carolina: "To authorize an election on the nnnafmn nf L\ xl w. Be it enacted by the I General Assembly of the State of South Carolina: That the County Advisory Board of Union County is hereby authorized and empowered, upon request of the trustees of Wallace Thompson Hospital, to order and hold in the County of Union an election submitting to the qualified electors of said county th* question as to whether or not the county shall issue seventyfive thousand. dollars ($76,000.00) of coupon bonds for the purpose of taking over, operating and maintaining the Wallace Thompson Hospital in the city of Union, county of Union. Sec. 2. That in the case a majority of the votes cast at said election shall and C? .. ly ele ti ns. Sec. 5. 'ln,.i the bonds so authorized shall be in such form, and payable at such period as may 1 e deter- | mined by the said County Advisory Board, and shall bear a rate of i .terest not exceeding six per cent per annum payable semi-annually, and shall be disposed of and sold by the County Advisory Board for cash, at not less than par. The money arising from the proceeds of said sale shall be deposited with the Treasurer of the County of Union and shall be paid out on the order of the County Advisory Board for the purposes herein mentioned and none other. Sec. 0. That in the event the bonds shall be issued there shall be levied annually, by the proper county officials, upon all the taxable property in Union County, a tax sufficient to pay the interest coupons as they shall fall due, and also to pay the principal on said bonds as it may fall due said tax levy not to exceed threefourths of one mill upon the taxable property in the county. Sec. 7. That upon the taking over of the hospital by the County, the affairs of the same shall be conducted by a Board of nine Trustees, eight to be appointed by the Governor upon the recommendation of the Union Delegation, the ninth Trustee to be the President of the Union County Modi . cal Association, a resident of the County of Union and a practicing phy- < sician. The term of office of said 1 Trustees shall be as follows: Two for ' two years, two for four years, two for \ six years, and two for eight years, i and thereafter shall be for a period 1 of eight years. I Sec. 8. The said Bonds shall be of ! such denominations as the Advisory Board and the Supervisor shall determine. The said Bonds may be either < serial or coupon.
