AN ORDINANCE
To Raise Supplies for the Fscal Year
Ilegilining .May 1, 1922. f?V" the
City of In ion, S. C.
He it ordained by the Mayor and
Aldermen of the City of Union, S.
in Council assembled and by authority
of the same:
That a tax to cover the expenses
and general purposes of the said City
of Union to be as follows: 11 .'I-1
mills for general put pose and a special
levy of I 1-4 mills for maintenance
of Carnegie Free Library and
to pay the interest on outstanding < ou
poll bonds from the tirst of May. 1922.
to tin* first of May. 192.'!, shall be
levied and collected in manner and
form as follows:
Section 1. A tax of sixteen (10)
mills upon every dollar of the value of
all taxable real estate, personal property
and stock in trade, in the corporate
limits of the City of Union,
S. C.
Section 2. That taxes herein levied
and assessed shall be due and collected
by the City Clerk and Treasurer,
who shall keep Ins books open from
the 1st day of May, 1922. to the 1st
day of June, 1922. for this purpose;
after which time he shall proceed by
distress or otherwise as prescribed bylaw
to collect such taxes as remain
unpaid, with a penalty of twenty per
cent (20'? > in addition thereto for
such non-payment.
Section That the basis of value
for taxation of real estate, personal
property and stock in trade within the
city of Union, S. (\, shall be taken
from the books of the Auditor of Union
County and such assessment shall
be the same as levied by the County
Auditor in 1920 and 1922.
Section 4. The sum of Two Dollars
t $2.00 1 is hereby tixed as a commutation
tax for the street or road duty
