Those who are not famors. but who ,

better than plant out one of these excellent
crapes. For 50 cents you can
get one. and get it right now.
We understand that there is to be

It has teen rumored that some of
the younger business men of Union
have been advocating a young men's

It might mo a very good idea for the

King May Marry ' |
French Prihoess ?
Pari?, Jan. 13.? Reports that the K
young King Alexander of Jugoslavia H
is engaged to man-y a French prlnc- I

ing tha King's recent long stay in 0
Paris but since he returned to Belgrade.
The identiyt of the reported
fiancee of Serbia's King has been
'he subject of much speculation arid
gossip.
Society circles of Paris ebliove the
most likely person to be the Princess
Sophie of the House of Bourbon and
Orleans, niece of King Albert of the
Belgians and a direct descendant of
"iOuis-Philippe. It is stated that the
King spent a great deal of his time
while in Paris in the company of the
pretty princess, who is now 21 years I
old. Indeed, it was reported th I
courtship' had progressed so far tha' j n
the French government was asked t > j

Vatican's sanction of the marriage fl

Shortly before the King left Paris,
however, there were rumors that a,
hitch had arisen in the proposed mar-!
.iage. It was said that while the
Princess' family were anxious to have E
her wed the Jugoslav sovereign, the P
Princess herself was opposed to the r
union bt^rause she feared to live in
he uncertain atmosphere of Bel
grade with its terrorist plots and
Communistic activities. t
She was afraid, it was reported,
hat she might meet the same fate
as Queen Draga, who was cruelly
murdered in the Serbia capital some
years ago. In any case, King Alexander
returned to Belgrade, and nothing
definite has since been announced
as to his matrimonial intentions or
expectations.

The nieasure stipulates that only .
the proteny of the present Queen 11
Wilhelmjna shall ascend the throne. 1
There 1 has been much argument
over thel question of what should be
(lone to provide for the possibility
that the young Princess 'Juliana, c
now 12 ; ears old, may not provide a
male hei: to the throne. Some months **
ago a bi 1 was prepared by the commission
of inquiry which provided,
in that event, that a referendum .
t ' (j
should be held to determine wether c
Holland should retain its monarchial p
form of government or become a re- P
public. ^
A bill now under discussion in parliament,
however, makes no mention
of a republic and mentions onlv
areferendum for the election of a
new monarch.
Another point on which agrcemen4 g
has been reached in parliament is
that neither King or Queen of Hoi- V
land shall any longer have the right
to declare war except with the approval
of the States General.
Queen Wilhelmina's civil list has (
been increased from 000.000 florins
to 1,200,000 (about $.130,000). The
allowance of Queen Dowager Emma f<
has also been doubled, and is now
fixed at 300,000 florins ($120,000).
Princess Juliana is to receive 200,000
florins ($80,000) a year when she
reaches the age of 13, which will be on
April 30 next. This amount is ^
also double that allowed by the orig 'nal
constitution.
The Queen's request for the doubling
of her nllowance aroused
considerable criticism, especially as it
followed her speech at (he opening
of parliament in which she advocated the
greatest public economy. i<
