Woman's Missionary
Sociaty of Grace
Methodist Church
Under the mercies of God our missionary
soeiety has completed another
year of history and service We find
it in our hearts to be profoundly
J thankful for the avenues of service
land channels of blessings that have
| been opened to us through the society
! to work for the Master in this part of
j his Kingdom.
i We take courage for the cver-beck-!
| oning hand of unfinished tasks, a.id a
lield abundant in lubors, and white
unto harvest which stretches before i
j us. because we are conscious that over!
i us has been a tender providence and|
I divine appointment, which has been
j evidenced in the tasks we have been j
j permitted to undertake, and from the;
! measure of success that has crowned
I our labors and sacrifices.
I
I In the orthodox usages of Meth-i
odism, it is incumbent upon our society
to reorganize and elect officers I
and leaders for another conference
year, and we turn to this rosponsibil...uu
~ -
vj wnil ? jluu consciousness of its
| gravity, as well as of the high mark
l of devotion, unselfish service and
! faithful courage of those who l ave
led us in the work in the past.
Had we choice in the matter, we
would choose to continue our work
with our beloved president, Mrs.
W. \V. Sumner, who has served
so nobly in this capacity for
the past nine years, but since at her
insistent purpose of ros.gning, l'mailied
by reasons which we can not deny,
it becomes necessary to fill her pkue,
we do so reluctantly, and feel that we
would be untrue to ourselves and her
service to Methodism and the mis don ary
cause, and more especially the
Women's Missionary Society, should
we fail to express as best we may,
with the inadequate vehicle of words
our regrets, and love and appreciation
for her as a coworker and leader
and for her faithful and untiring service
for the cause we all love.
Therefore, be it resolved: Thai we
bow reluctantly, but with true missionary
spirit to the inexorable n.jessity
that impels our president to resign
after nine years of service in the
capacity, and that we go on record as
a body that during all these year., the.
work and spirit of our president has
been both a blessing and inspiration to!
us as individual members of thi Wo-'
man's Missionary Society, and that j
the work of the society, in v.hate.er it
has achieved, that merits the "well
done" of our Lord is largely the- result
of her devotion and faith and
wise leadership as president. We submit
with sorrow to the reasons' she
urges as making Iwr resignation necessary-,
will miss her wise counts,
earnest and energetic concer.i, as

work, history and usages of Methodism
and the missionary cause. We
can only console ourselves with the
knowledge that she will still be with
us, as n member of the society, and
with urging upon her our love and dependence
upon her presence and council
at all our meetings, and the highest
tribute we can pay her as she retires
is to pray that the mantle of her
leadership and spirit may fall upon
us as a society and more abundantly
upon our newly-elected president.
Further and finally that a copy of
these preambles and resolutions be inscribed
upon our records and a copy
presented to our beloved president as
she re. igns from this office, and also
published in our local paper.
Adopted by a unanimous vote.
