Arbuckle, the comedy film star, is
said to have a fine automobile and a
fine bouse but no money. His salary
was a week. This he seems to
ha\e spent as he trot it. and since he
has had his work interrupted, his income
has dropped to nothing. Hi
trial is said to have cost $30,000, and
the report is that the money was
Ion nod him by a friend. It seems that
the wild orgies that made up a good
portion of his life have led him into
a sad plight. It is about as severe
punishment as could befall a man of
Arbuekle's type.
Those living in Union County ten
years from today will witness a transformation
that will be amazing, unless
all signs fail. The revolution in
farming methods will, by then, have
become complete. Fertile fields, budded
by alfalfa, velvet beans, peas, oat
and wheat, will be seen on every hand.
Herds of cattle, droves of swine, fat
horses and mules will be seen upon
the farms as one rides along the
cement highways. Probably in ten
years there will not be a ma n road in
the county that will be snnd-claj
Cement will take the place of clay. It
would not be surprising if within ten
years hangars for airships will be
as numerous as garages for automobiles.
We are in the beginning of a
wonderful transformation, we believe,
and the unfolding, from now on, will
be rapid, very rapid.
Our cat is watchiii^ the little boys
and girls and is going to put Santa
Claus wise.
Our cat says Marshal Foch should
have visited Union if he wanted to see
a real, sure-enoujrh town.
Our cat says don't talk ugly about
your neighbors for the kids will go
and tell them.
*
Our cat says Union county had better
plant something to eat next year
and thereby whip the boll weevil.
*
Our cat says Old Scrooge is trying
his best to kill Christmas this
year, hut he can't do it. As long athe
sun shines old Santa Claus will
pay his annual visits and gladden the
little hf-nrt?

Our cat says he wants to remind
you of the wonderful bargains our
merchants are offering. He thinks
you had better shop early.
