The conference may do some good, but we are not very hopeful of such a result. The problem is one that already the government has either failed to* discover or, having discovered it, has failed to find a remedy. The problem is primarily a tax problem. The reason so many men are out of employment is the fact that many business concerns and enterprises have had to cut down the number of employees because taxes have risen so high that these concerns could not Uvr> niwlor fVio pnnHifiADQ A 1 oncr wit Vt taxes has prone hiprh transportation costs, so that between these two factors the business has been staggering under a load that could not be carried. In our humble judgment the government will do more good to keep on trying to cut down the tax That might bring some real help. A meeting of men representing the various industries and business enterprises in Washington will be of very little value. <)ur ca^^ it^is to have friends cheer you on to victory. * Our cat says wild talk is not becoming. * Our cat says fancied wrongs are often as hard^ to bear as real ones. + * Our cat says little Johnny will soon have to reenter scshool. mm* Our cat says a cannery in Union would look good to him. m * Our cat says men who live by their wits often go hungry. m m m Our cat says Union county could raise and ship out to other points ten thousand hogs a year.
