for some time past with illness, and
this was his first trip to Bamberg
in several weeks.
?Mrs. Henry F. Bamberg returned
home last week from a Charleston
hospital wihere she has been under
treatment for some time. Her
friends will be glad to know that she
is improving very nicely.

Minnie Lunz, of Charleston, stopped
over in Bamberg Sunday, after attending
the teachers' meeting in

as delegates from Bamberg to
the convention of the Federation of
Music clubs, stopped in Columbia for
a short visit to Mrs. D. H. McDuffie
in Shandon and to Mrs. Henry Brabham
in Wales Gardens.?The State.
?B. B. Goodwin, of the Little
Swamp section, was a visitor in town
Monday. Mr. Goodwin is one of
the county's "new" citizens, living
in the portion annexed to Bamberg
a year or two ago. He has a son, I.
W. Goodwin, in Carlisle school, and
expects to enter another son next
year. He is a good supporter of
Carlisle.

Bridge Luncheon.
On-Tuesday, 14th March, "Woodlands,"
the home of Mrs. W. G.
Simms, was the scene of a most delightful
and enjoyable bridge luncheon.
The hostesses of the occasion
were Mrs. W. G. Simms, Mrs. Boyd
Cole, Mrs. Carl Buck and Mrs. Albert
Oliphant. The spacious lower
floor was thrown open and charmingly
decorated with yellow jasmine,
fruit blossoms and many other
varied and beautiful spring nowers.
Seven tables were set for the
guests who arrived at twelve, and
after an informal reception a delicous
luncheon was served.
Bridge was enjoyed immediately
afterwards, Mrs. Salley,' from
Orangeburg, winning the prize for
top score, and Mrs. C. J. S. Brooker
being lucky in -cutting the consolation.
Those present were: Mrs. F. M.
Bamberg, Mrs. J. D. Copeland, Mrs.
C. J. S. Brooker, Mrs. McGhee, Mrs.
J. W. Price, Mrs. F. B. McCrackin,
Mrs. Sparks, and Miss Lingard from
Bamberg; Mrs. Carroll Simms, Mrs.
Harry Calhoun, Mrs. Smith, Miss
Patterson and Mrs. Easterling, from
Barnwell: Mrs. Salley, Mrs. Cabell,
Miss Sallev, Mrs. Bronson and Mrs.
Hydrick, from Orangeburg; Mrs.
Heath, from Columbia.
Bridge Club Entertained.
Mrs. Leon Tobin delightfully entertained
the Bridge club on Friday,
17th. Several guests were present,
including Mrs. Boyd. Cole, Mrs. Albert
Oliphant and Miss Connor. The
games started promptly at 3:30 and
after five games a delicious
salad course was served by the hostess,
assisted by Mrs. J. C. Lewis. The
next meeting will be on Friday, 23rd,
Mrs. Sparks being hostess at the
home of Mrs. J. D. Copeland.
