F.' Bamberg returned home last week from -t^e mountains. ?Mr. and Mrs. Decania Dowling, of Charlotte, spent a few days in the city this week. ?F. M. Smoak, of Charleston, is spending a few days with his mother, Mrs. E. A. Smoak. ?Mr. and Mrs. Jacob G. Rentz, of Hunter's Chapel, are visiting their children in the city. ?Mrs. G. M. Dickinson has gone to Columbia, where she is under treatment at a hospital. ?Mrs. Charles F. Black has returned to the ,city after spending the summer at Quitman, Ga. ?Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Winn and C. R. Strom, of McCormick, spent a fewdays in the city recently. , ?Mrs. George P. White has returned home after spending a fewdays with relatives in Union. ?Miss Jerolyn Kammer, or BiacKville, has accepted a position as saleslady with LaVerne Thomas & Co. ?Capt. Elfiott 0. Watson, a member of the Carlisle school faculty, has returned to the city from his vacation. ?H. F. Bamberg, Jr., left a few days ago for Bedford, Va., where he has enrolled at Randolph-Macon ' academy.. ?Mrs. H. E. Johnson, of Millette, returned home last week after a visit to Mrs. M. T. Johnson and Mrs. F. O. Brabham. ?Mrs. C. C. Courtney was called to Louisville, Ga., this week on account of the death of her uncle, Geo. Burckhalter. ?Mrs. S. J> Houston, of Mississippi, is spending some time in the city with her daughter, Mrs. Francis M. Hill and family have moved to Bamberg, Mr. Hill having recently purchased a residence on New Bridge street from H. A. Wright, of Orangeburg. ?Mrs. J. D. Copeland, Sr., Mrs. Katherine Riley and Jefferson Riley returned home last week from the mountains of North Carolina, "where they spent the summer. ?Capt. Waldo Lever, who graduated from Carlisle school three years ago, arrived in town last week. Capt. Lever will be a member of the faculty of Carlisle the coming season. j ?Mrs. James A.
