Simmons, of Orangeburg, was in the city Tuesday. ?Miss Katherine Hiers, of Ruffin, is spending some time in the city. ?Mrs. G. W. Cope and little son | have returned from the mountains. ?W. D. Rhoad and James Knoad have returned from a visitfto New York ?Mrs. D. C. Murph, of Orangeburg, spent Friday in the city with relatives. ?Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Edmunds. ?Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Hoffman returned to the city this week after a three weeks visit to Clarksville, Ga. ?Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Black and Clarence junior returned Tuesday I from a two weeks stay in the moun' tains. \ ?Mr. and Mrs. Eustis Smoak, of Cedar Springs, spent a few days in the city this week with Mr. and Mrs. N. P. Smoak. ?Misses Frances and Dixie Faust and Susie Chambers, of Macon, Ga., have rturned home after a visit to Miss Mildred Rice. ?Mrs. I. B. Felder and baby returned'Tuesday from a visit to Murrell's Inlet and Georgetown. Mr. Felder met them in Charleston. ?Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Stol/es, of Petersburg, Va., have arrived in the city and will reside here in the future. This is Mr. Stokes's old home. ?J. B. Black, Jr., spent several days this week at Hendersonville, where Mrs. Black is spending the summer. ?The Rev. S. O. Cantey returned last week from a visit to relatives at Summerton, and services at the Methodist church were resumed Sunday morning. - ?Miss Gertrude Smoak, who was recently operated on in Charleston, returned home Sunday night, and is improving rapidly, ner tnenas win oe glad to learn. ?Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Folk, Miss Virginia Folk, Faber Fol?, Col. and Mrs. J. C. Guilds and Mildred Guilds returned home Sunday from Waynesville, N. C., where they spent a few weeks. Following are the census figures just announced: Blackville 1421, an increase of 143, or 11 per cent; Barnwell 1903, an increase of 579, or 43 per cent; Dunbarton 1072; x^Kline 938. Sheriff Ray and Chief Moody made a raid a few days ago on the Salkehatchie river swamp, capturing a 40gallon illicit liquor distillery. The still was one of the largest ever seen in this county.
