Ray Is Back, After Twenty 1 Months* Service at Front. Olar, April 21.?Dr. C. B. Ray, who for the last 20 months has served with the 26th division in , France, arrived in Boston April 19. Dr. Ray while abroad has seen army life from practically every angle, having served first in base hospital, ambulance corps, ammunition train, | and lastly with the infantry. It was j in the infantry that Dr. Ray actually1 f realized the deadly horror of war, as he himself was badly gassed while administering first aid to his men. During his stay abroad he has also had occasion to visit all the larger cities of France, which necessarily > - will add much to the information which he will bring back to his dear 1 home folks. When Dr. Ray volun- j teered in September, 1917, the gov- j i ernment commissioned him first' lieutenant, but on account of his de- j votion to duty at the front,^he was / promoted to captain some time ago.; Bamberg county will gladly welcome back one of her most popular young physicians. The citizens of Olar are j hoping that Dr. Ray will resume his practice here. Quite a number of boys from Olar,! who have served overseas, have re-1 turned. They are: John R. McCor-| mack, Jr., Jutty Still, W. B. Cooke, | x Clyde Kearse, Hayne Breland, Ennis ; Breland. Mr. W. B. Chitty leaves this week for an extended tour of the upper part of the State. Mr. "Chitty is making this trip in behalf of his health. The Olar High School has secured ; Dr. Henry N. Snyder, president of j Wofford college, to deliver the ad-! dress to the graduating class. Dr. j C. E. Burts, pastor of the First Bap- 1 tist church of Columbia, has been invited to preach the commencemnt sermon. * # ^ ^ A . > ' 0 .
