C. | Entered as second-class matter April 1891, under Act of Marcn 3, i? <?. ~ $1.50 PER YEAR. v Volume 27. No. 36. Thursday, Sept. 12, 1918. r i ? ,t. ' 1 I For the first time Bamberg county has watched the employment of the Australian ballot system, which was j used in all the incorporated towns,! namely: Bamberg, Ehrhardt Olar, Govan and Denmark. Being new to the managers there was some con- j fusion until things got started off, I and the system is considerably slow- i er than the old system. However, j the results of the experiment we^e i gratifying, indeed. Bamberg county - has always, we believe, been free from t.ection frauds, and compara-! tively free from all irregularities, so the new balloting svecttn had no effect whatever on the results in this | county. The fairness of the new system, however, commends it, and inj > the interest of honest elections we think the, Australian ballot a de cided success. It eliminates any possibility, where employed, of any wholesale frauds, and in this way creates an atmosphere of confidence in the primary elections which will be wholesome to the State at large. ^ m m The Herald desires to call the attention of its subscribers to the new ruling of the war industries board, which requires all subscriptions to newspapers to be paid in advance.
