ESTABLISHED APRIL, 1891.
Thursday. Dec. 14. 1916.
The Herald is this week printing
the letters from the children to Santa '
Claus. We hope our good old patron
saint will give each of the boys and
girls everything they ask for, if it is
possible, so that Christmas will be
joyful to them. The Herald is printing
the letters just as they are writi
ten, for the manner in which the little
folks write and ask for gifts from
Santa is one of the quaintest things
about letters to Santa Claus.
. Unless the price of printing paper
is reduced, the paper bill of The Bamberg
Herald will be over three hundred
dollars more in 1917 than it
was in 1916. It is imperative that
tfiis increase must be met in some
way. We are afraid The Herald cannot
much longer continue to send
the paper at $1.50 a year. But if our
subscribers will pay their subscriptions
promptly, we will have less loss
on subscription accounts, and consequently
we will receive more money.
In this way it may be possible for us
to continue the paper at the same
price.
<
This edition of The Bamberg
Herald is issued with some pardonable
Dride by The Herald force. The
edition contains more pages than perhaps
any issue ever printed* in this
city, and carries decidedly more advertising.
We wish to take this opportunity
of thanking each one of the
merchants and others using space in
this edition. The growth of the advertising
patronage of the paper reflects
the growth of the town, and we
are pretty sure there are a great
many larger cities in this State that
would find it extremely difficult to
publish a paper with the amount of
advertising that The Herald is carrying
today.
Bamberg has not for the past few
years been afflicted with the carnivals.
We now understand that one of these
nefarious aggregations is to come to
this city within the next week or two.

"I am thankful to the people who make the genuine j

' said I had better let it alone before it killed me, and did
everything he could to keep me off of it. I saw what it

"Mw hraaifin? mit has disappeared; my stomach seems

It done me so much good that I bought a treatment for
my two daughters, who were both suffering from indigestion
and general run-down condition. It has acted
like a charm on both of them. It is a regular family
tonic. "FRANK ROWLAND,

I Dear Sir: I thank you for getting me started in the
, premier tonic, Mrs. Joe Person's Remedy. It certainly
has helped me for indigestion and nervousness. I had
; no desire to eat before I began taking your tonic, but
; now I simply can't satisfy my appetite. I have only
gained about six pounds on one bottle, and feel lots betj

To Whom It May Interest:
Last summer my health gave way and I commenced
to grow thin and pale; could not sleep or eat; everything
I ate soured on my stomach, and in spite of all our fami1>
doctor could do I had to go to bed. I stayed there
about five months. We had three of the best doctors in
Spartanburg, Drs. Lenard, Floyd and Lyles. They worked
faithfully on me, but absolutely without any result
whatsoever. Finally they said instead of having dyspepsia
I had consumption. But if I did they could not
do me any good. After Mrs. A. S. Blanton had been
cured and was able to come to see me, I decided I would
try it also. Well, my doctors like to have had a fit when
they heard I was taking it and made fun of me until I
got mad. But I stuck to my remedy. I had used three

came by; then he asked to see the medicine. I let him
look at in and he said: "Well, I don't like to brag on
patent medicine, but that is surely doing you good, and
I hope you will stick to it until you get well, for I believe
it is going to cure you, so I'd stick to it." When
I got Mr. Rhodes this statement I was finishing up my
twelfth bottle. I. had gained 37 pounds In weight, and
instead of looking pale and thin I had as much color as
any woman would wish for. I never fail to recommend
it to my lady friends, and it has always proven to be ^
the greatest medicine that ever came to our city.
I will gladly tell anybody, even by mail, what I know - J
about the premier tonic, Mrs. Joe Person's Remedy. I
