Report Home Demonstration Work. J" Mrs. B. W. Faust, home demonstration agent, has organized the foll lowing clubs in the county, with a S total enrollment of 135 girls: Bin}t naker school, Buford's Bridge, Colston, Denmark, Ehrhardt, Govan, ie Lees, Oak Grove, Olar, Salem, St. j~ John, White Point. 3 Any other communities desiring a ,r girls' or woman's club will please n write her at Denmark. ' Winthrop college, being anxious to promote the demonstration work in = the State, offers each summer, free ? board and free tuition to Drize-win ning girls from each county. In Bamberg county two girls will be g selected in May for the course be 11 ginning June 19th. Awards will be made according to general condition of plat, and best work up to this time. Examinations will be made and winners announced about May >- 27. Awards for the 1917 scholaru ships will be made in the fall, when i" the best exhibit and largest yield will also be considered by the judges. >- Other prizes will doubtless be offered. d The prospects are bright for a successful first year's work, and Mrs. Faust desires to thank each one who )_ has assisted in organizing the clubs. o e Vital Statistics for County. e The following information relative l- to Bamberg county is taken from the st statistics made public Saturday by ,t tue State bureau of vital statistics: I- 'Number of deaths in county during [- 1915, 245; death rate, 12.8. e Number of births in county during 1915, 449; birth rate, 23.4. During 1915 there were nine u deaths from pellagra in Bamberg county, the rate being 46.9. There a were fewer deaths from pellagra in t Saluda and Bamberg counties than in any other counties of the State, these - two counties each having nine deaths r from this cause. j NOTICE^ DEMOCRATS!e Pursuant to the rules*of the Demo cratic party of South Carolina, the president of each Democratic club in Bamberg county is requested to call a meeting of his club, designating s the hour thereof, to be holden on Sats urday, April 22, 1916, for the purB pose of reorganizing and electing officers for the ensuing term; and also to elect a county executive commi'tteeman and delegate to the county 1 convention which is hereby called to e meet in the court house at Bamberg, y S.
