THE PLAN

The plan of the contest is very simple. There are
no strings tied to it. Just get out and secure subscriptions,
either new or renewal, to The Bamberg
Herald. Every 1 year's subscription counts 1,500
votes.' The five receiving the highest number of
votes will be awarded the five valuable prizes
I named below. To each contestant not receiving
one of the five big prizes, The Bamberg Herald will
give, when the contest closes, a check for ten per
cent, of all collections turned in by the contestant.
Therefore no contestant will lose. In other words,
if a contestant turns in $200 in subscriptions during
the contest, and does not succeed in securing
, one of the prizes, we will cheerfully give that contestant
a check for $20. Do you know of an easier
way in which to make $20? .
NO VOTES ARE FOR SALE.
Votes in this contest are not for sale. No one
can come in The Herald office and buy uotes in this
subscription campaign. Votes are given for money
paid in on subscriptions, and for nothing else. No
contestant may fear that another contestant- can
buy a$y of the prizes. Votes will be given only on

The contest is open to any lady in Bamberg
county or in any adjoining county. There is
nothing to do but secure, subscriptions to this newspaper.
The nomination ballot, printed elsewhere,
counts for 5,000 votes when sent in to The Herald.
Only one nomination ballot will be counted for any
one contestant. Your territory is unlimited. Go
where you will and when you want to.
Votes will be counted at intervals and published
in The Herald. Look for the first count, which will

"When we Were about the task of selecting prizes,
we decided not to send away and get prizes about
which we knew nothing, but bought everything
' from our home merchants. You know them.. You
know that when they tell you an article is worth
' so much, that it is worth every cent of it. The
prizes will be on display soon. Don't fail to see

THE REASON FOR THE CONTEST.
Everything has a reason; The reason for this
contest is this: Last fall when cotton was selling
for two or three cents a pound less than it cost to
raise it, a large number of our best subscribers
could not pay for {heir paper. The Herald came
to their rescue and carried their subscriptions ovbr
until this fall, with the result that we now have a
great many whose subscriptions are in arrears.
Aslo we have decided to add to our subscription
lists ONE THOUSAND NEW SUBSCRIBERS
this fall. We are willing to divide profits and give
to the young ladies in this and adjoining counties
