Friday morning from ?t. Louis,
where he had been to buy a car load
of horses and mules for Jones Bros.
?Mr. J. B. Elkins, of Eastman,
Ga. is spending a few days in the
city. Mr. Elkins lived in Bamberg
until-last year, and his many friends
were glad to see him again.
?Messrs. H. F. Bamberg, J. W.
Stokes, G. Frank Bamberg, E. C.
Bruce, W. D. Rhoad, W. B. Smith,
and J. B. Brickie left Monday for a
camp hunt down in Colleton county.
?Mrs. E. O. Kirsch and daughter,
Miss Genevieve, went to Charleston
Tuesday morning to take in the
pleasures of gala week, and also to
visit Mr. Carl Kirsch, who is attending
the Citadel.
?Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Ehrhardt,
of Ehrhardt, Bamberg county, returned
to their home yesterday after
a visit of several days to Mrs. Ehr-:

The voting contest for the big doll
is going merrily on at The Herald
Book Store, and the popularity of this
contest is attested by the number or
votes cast already. Ask for your '
votejs, as we forget it very often. You
are entitled to one vote with each .
purchase of five cents, and the little
girl receiving the largest number of
votes will get the handsome doll displayed
in our big show window. The <
contest closes Christmas Eve night
at twelve o'clock, so if you want your

Dispensary Burned.
The building in which was located
the dispensary at Olar was destroyed
by fire last Thursday morning about
day light. None of the stock of liliquors
was saved, the fire having
gained too great headway when discovered.
The stock was insured for
$1,000, and the loss was $1,500. We
do not know how much the building
was insured for. It was the property
of Mrs. Barker. Another building
was secured' next day, and the dispensary
is open as usual. It is not
known how the fire originated.

Master for Bamberg County, will sell
at the court house in Bamberg on
Moudey, December 7th, 1908, during
the legal hours of sale, to the high-x
est bidder, for cash, the following

"All that certain piece, parcel or
