Kearse, of H the Olar section, was brought to Bamberg Wednesday night of last week from Charleston, where she % died the day before after a short illf: ' ness. Mrs. Kearse had gone to the hospital in Charleston for an operation, which resulted in her death, file burial took place Thursday at the family burying ground in the Kearse section. Quarteriy Statement. In our advertising columns will be found the quarterly report of the county dispensary, and it will be found interesting. The profits to the town of Bamberg for three months amount to $1,054.45, while an equal amount goes to the county. This makes the total profits for the Bamberg dispensary for the quarter $2,636.13. The profits of the Denmark dispensary for the three months amounted to $1,657.33> while the other dispensaries in the county were much less. Read the statement carefully and see how matters stand. The total expenses for the quarter amount to $4,548.90. Admitted to Bail. Last Friday E. T. LaFitte, Esq., appeared before Associate Justice Eugene B. Gary, of the State Supreme Court, in Columbia, and made a motion for bail for J. J. England, who is charced with the killing: of W. H. Garner. Bail was granted in the sum of $3,000. The bond was signed early Saturday morning, and Mr. England was released from jail and went to his home. We saw some of the affidavits and testimony on which the motion was made, but they contain little more than what has been published. The testimony of Mrs. Garner and Mrs. May at the coroner's inquest was given, as was also the testimony of a negro woman and the negro man, Peter Hammond. The negroes swore that Garner fired first, while Mrs. Garner and her mother testified that , England fired first. There was also i an affidavit as to threats made by Garner against England, made by : Mr. F. E. Steedly, which stated that Garner had threatened to kill England. V '/ * V >v. Loadholdt, near Fairfax. Mr. E. W. Rentz and his sister, Miss Willie Rentz, Misses Anna Bishop, Bertie Bishop, Emma Bishop and Mr. Willie Bishop spent last Saturday night at the home of Mr. Abner Fender. Mr. Clarence Kearse, of Three Mile Creek, and Mrs. Anna Robinson, of Olar, were married at the Lutheran narflonace bv Rev. P. E. Monroe last Sunday afternoon. Messrs. Frank and J. C. Hiers went to Charleston last Monday to buy goods for their fancy grocery store which they expect to open up in their new building on Main street. Mrs. William Raysor, of near Hartzog, died last Saturday, and was buried Sunday afternoon at Old Zion chdrch. Mr. Curtis Furman, of Allendale, spent Saturday and Sunday' in this community. Mr. J. Q. Kinard spent last Friday night at the home of Mr. W. L. Warren. Mesdames Joe Loadholdt and Tom Williams, of Jenny, spent last Friday at the home of Mr. J. C. Copeland. Mrs. Rosa Hoffman is spending time with Mrs. B. B. Goodwin, near Smoak's. Mr. Harry Ehrhardt is clerking for Messrs. C. Ehrhardt & Sons. Mr. Henry L. Kinard, of the St. John's community, was in town last Thursday. Mr. Conrad Ehrhardt is building a dwelling on the corner of Mill and Franklin streets. - It will be for rent. Mr. S. W. Copeland has bought out McKenzie Bros., and will continue the business at the same stand. Mrs. G. Ly Kinard, of Camberg, has been in this community the past week, visiting friends andTelatives, Mrs. P. M. Kearse, of Olar, died last Wednesday, and was buried a1 the family burying ground by Rev, P.
