died at his home in that city last
Thursday morning. He was fortyfour

to be married in Bennettsville soon
to T. B. McLaurin, a son of ex-Senator

is well known in Bamberg, having
visited relatives here. Mr. McLaurin
is postmaster at Bennettsville.

Eighty-three carriers were used in
the city and surrpunding towns to
distribute the paper. There were
175 columns of advertising in the
edition.

Toast Line Railroad Company had

was an error. It was the Seaward
Air Line that paid the penalty

The county is now paying the sherffbytheday
for feeding prisoners.
The price paid is 30 cents per day,
md the bill for last month amounted
o $60.00. The clerk of the county
ward tells us that this arrangement
las been in vogue for several months,
md the expense has averaged about
(60.00 per month.. As to whether
his plan is cheaper than that of havng

Prisoners in Jail.
There are seven prisoners in jail
iwaiting trial- at court next week,
rheyare: Addison Johnson and Wesey
Hutto, charged with the murder
>f M. B. Varn; Dock Nelson, under
entence of death . for murder, but

Anderson, charged with the murder
if Willie Cutter, white; John Gale,
or housebreaking and larceny; Char
ie Morris, for killing Levy Morns at

McMillan, who will be tried for
illing William Holman on Mr. M.
J. Rice's place last Saturday. These
ist two were put in jail Sunday.
Death of ilr. George Quattlebaum.
Mr. George Quattlebaum died at
is horife in the Cope section of
Irangeburg county Tuesday night,
fter a short illness. He was about
5 years old and leaves a wife and
ne child. Mr. Quattlebaum maried
Miss Mary Cleckley, a sister of
)r. J. J. Cleckley. He was well
nown and had many friends and
elatives in this city, to whom the
ews of his death brings sorrow,

afternoon at Union church,
