pensary auditor, in a private letter
to Mr. E. L. Price, book-keeper of
the dispensary in this county, says:
"I found your accounts in good shape
and your books beautifully kept."
G. A. Ducker has bought the brick
store on Main street which he is occupying.
Mrs. J. R. Owens, formerly
Miss Sallie Rice, was the owner.
The price paid was $2,500. Who
says Bamberg property is not valuable?
Cholera has been prevalent among
the hogs in the Ehrhardt section tne
past summer. Several of the best
farmers and meat raisers in that section
lost most of their stock. More
than two hundred head have died
from this disease.
Mrs. A. W. Knight and children
left yesterday for a visit to relatives
? in Manning and Sumter. She will
also attend the State meeting of the
PHome Mission Society in Manning, as
a delegate from the society of the
Methodist church here.
A meeting of the cotton association
is to be held in the court house
next Monday morning at eleven
o'clock. Let every member be present
and encdfcre those who are
subscribers to the capital stock of
the warehouse company.

Cards are out for the coming marriage
of Miss Jennie E. Rentz to Mr.

The State board of pardons has
declined to recommend the pardon
of Charles Zissett, convicted in this
county several years ago of murder,
and it is not likely that the governor
will pardon him. We congratulate
the board on its action. From the
testimony in this case, Zissett deserved
to hang, and it is nothing but
right that he should serve his sentence.
It will be remembered that
the jury found him guilty of murder ;
and he was sentenced to be hung, 1
but Governor Ellerbe commuted the ;
sentence to life imprisonment.

The county board of control at a
meeting held last Monday paid out
;o the towns, county and schools the
irofits accruing for the past quarter.
Bamberg received $590.56; Denmark,
?452.54; Olar, $220.77; Ehrhardt,
?224.86; Midway, $25.51. The county
gets $1,514.24, the schools receivng
$757.16.
Bamberg's railroad project is attracting
attention in varions sections.
A. Mr. Griffin, who was contractor for
the grading on the old South Bound
road, now the Seaboard Air Line,
between Columbia and Savannah,
was in the city Monday looking into
the Bamberg, Ehrhardt and Walterboro
railroad scheme.
