Kansas City, Jan. 22.?An investiga,

woman and the latter thereupon confessed
herself to be in reality Miss Pauli

^ committed in obtaining the marriage
f-v >' 'license.
V "I am a woman, but I have dressed as
a man for three years," she said today in
the pretence of Chief Heyes. 4,I have
worked as a man and lived as one. 1
Y * :f .:? married this girl when she said she could
not live without me. My father's name

my two brothers, J. E. Webster and J. R

v my share, so after quarreling with ray

restaurants until three years ago.
'.Qvlq day in Dallas, Tex., while I was employed
in the Kimball hotel, I heard that

REMEMBERED IN GAFFNEY.
GaffjseY, Jan. 22.?Pauline Webster
is well known here, but she has been%upV
posed to be dead for several years. She
-'m- vas the daughter of the late Noah Web
ster, who was a large owner of real es*.
tate in this county and left, a valuable estate,
which was divided among the
other heirs by the court, the daughter,
Pauline, being regarded as dead. She
, .left here several years ago under unfav^
orable circumstances ana nothing at all
has been heard from her since then. Her
relatives here are among the most prominent
and highly respected citizens of the
community, her brother being a prominent
county official. The news of the
I : affair in Kansas City is a surprise.
