Old Ha me or Tit for Tat.
The conductor was talking to the motorman,
both looking'ahead, as the car
bowled merrily on. A woman standing
in thn-rpar seats motioned in vain for a
" stop.
"Hey," shouted a man in golf clothes |
- and tourist's cap, "this lady wants to get;
\ J off" 1
\ t Another twist of the lever and the car'
^ ' ran with greater speed.
' "Oh, dear, dear!" exclaimed the woman.
This remark was not especially addressI
ed to the man in the tourist's cap, but he
'y ^ thought it was. Jumping from his seat
he grabbed the leather cord nearest him
V and yanked it viciously five times.
. "Who did that?" asked the conductor
? savagely.
* "I did," yelled the man. 'Til teach you
jf to run pa3t streets without paying attention
to your passengers."
; "And I'll teach you to ring up fares
without paying me," retorted the conduces*
tor. "That bit of exercise will cost you
^ 25eents."
k "Take it," scornfully remarked the man
? t in the tourist's cap, handing over a coin.
The conductor gave him a quarter in
| ^ Change and did not discover until he cash'
ed in at the end of the run that he had j
been taking bad monev.?New York Press.1
? Helpful (?) Hints.
The following were gleaned from the
? leading fashion magazines:
! Sleeves are to be extremely large.
The best models have very tight sleeves.
Fashionable bodices all run to a point.
The pointed bodice is very little seen.
^ Trains are things ol the past.
All the new Paris gowns have sweeping
trains.
Everything except evening dresses are
made with a short skirt.
The short skirt is tabooed except for
morning.
? Smart hats have high crowns and roll*
ing brims.
i The elect will adopt high-crowned hats
^ with extreme caution.
Have a bit of yellow about you, if you |
would be modish.
Eschew the too popular yellow fad.
The separate waist is entirely out of it.
r-; 4 No wardrobe is complete without a
j dozen separate waists.
I Red is the leading hue.
No color stands so high in favor as
brown.
I ?. - AN OLD TIME REMEDY.

It is a combination so put together
that it cures a cough right off. Nothing

I Wine of C&rdui I
I Cured Her; I
I 213 South Prior Street, fl
Atlanta, Ga., March 21,1903. I
fl I suffered for four months with fl
extreme nervousness and lassitude. fl
I had a sinking feeling in my fl
stomach which no medicine seemed fl
to relieve, and losing my appetite B
I became weak and lost my vital- fl
B ity. In three weeks I lost fourteen fl
B pounds of flesh and felt that I must B
fl find speedy relief to regain my II
fl health. Having heard Wine of fl
fl Cardui praised by several of myfl
fl friends, I sent for a bottle and was fl
fl certainly very pleased with the fl
fl results. Within three days my fl
fl appetite returned and my stomach fl
H troubled me no more. I could B
digest my food without difficulty B
W and the nervousness gradually I
H diminished. Nature performed B
II her functions without difficulty fl
II and I am once more a happy and I
