For a hundred years or more Witch Hazel has been recognized as a superior remedy, but it remained for E. C. DeWitt & Co., of Chicago, to discover how to J combine the virtues of witch hazel with other antiseptics, in the form of a salve. DeWitt's Witch Hazel Salve is the best : salve in the world for sores, cuts, burns, bruises and piles. The high standard of this salve has given rise to counterfeits, and the public is advised to look for the J name "DeWitt" on the package, and ac' v cept no other. Invariably when she put the * eggs in the saucepan she began singing "Rock of Ages" and sang through two 1 I verses. "Aunt Dinah," asked Mr. Paul, "are there not three verses in that hymn?" "Dar is, but I sings only two when I wants 'em soft and three when I wants 'em hard." His other egg story is good too. He was traveling on a Pennsylvania " 5 ?1?He V> root fact xrao * railway, ana wucu. ma i brought the'eggs were underdone. "What time are we making on this train?" he asked the waiter. "A mile a minute, sir." "Then boil the eggs another mile, and they'll be quite right." For sick headache take Chamberlain's Stomach and Liver Tablets. For sale by f Bamberg Pharmacy; H. C. HIS SALE. 5 ARE STRICTLY CASH When the Clock Strikes. The famous remark of Governor ZebB. Vance, of North Carolina, to Governoi "Wade Hampton, of South Carolina, "It is a long time between drinks," made at a gathering in the '70's, which was responsible for the familiar question, "What did the Governor of North Carolina say to the Governor of South Carolina?" is to be made use of in a novel manner by a North Carolina man in connection with a hall clock. ' Ordinarily the timepiece would not attract more than ordinary attention, but each time it strikes a change takes place. First of all, this inscription, resting between the portraits of Governor Hampton and Governor Vance, files into place, just below the face of the clock: "What did the Governor of North Carolina say to the Governor of South Carolina?" A moment later a door drops at the foot, disclosing a well-stocked wine closet. HAVE YOU A COUGH? A dose of Ballard's Horehound Syrup will relieve it. Have you a cold? A dose of Herbine at bed time and small doses of Horehound Syrup during the day will remove it. Try it for whooping cough, asthma, consumption, or bronchitis. I never wake up in the morning that I don't wonder how many more I'll be in the evening. Friday?To-day my nurses struck! i Came forward in a body and demanded eight hours a night. As if I could guarantee them anything in the present state of affairs. Saturday?Spring openings! To-day five of my better sixteenths stole away from me while I was snatching some much needed rest and went shopping! A STRONG HEART is assured by perfect digestion.
