IOur streets presented a busy appearance
last Saturday which proves that our
pretty little city is no "sleepy hollow."
The friends of J. William Carter and
Jacob J. Fogle announce them as candidates
for county commissioners in this
issue.
Drink at Moye's fountrin and keep cool.
Some of our girls are now parting their

The health, church and educational
advantages of Bamberg are unsurpassed
by any town of its size in the low country.
Just now there is a scarcity of residences
in town, which is a matter that should be
considered by those of our citizens who
have loose money lying around. If houses
are built the people will come, and then
the population and business enterprises
of the town will increase.

? Encouraging Reports.
The State's correspondent in writing of ^
the recent meeting of the Orangeburg
District Conference at Sprtngfield says: ~
"The financial reports were the best f
ever made in the district or (as the writer
believes) in the State of South Carolina.
All missionary claims are paid in full,
from every charge, $2,857; and on salaries,
$5,238, being nearly 36 per cent. Preachers
and laymen "feel good," and go "forward"
is the watchword of this district.
The feature on Friday was the address of
Dr. A. M. Chreitzberg, of Columbia, on
"Reminiscense of Sixty Years Ago." The
conference was thrilled by the sweetness
and the humor of this most honored
"Father in Israel," one whose gray hairs
are a "crown of glory."
