Married in Edgefield.
The many friends of Mr. Joseph Kinard
were very much surprised last Wednesday
night to learn of his marriage the
same afternoon to Miss Fannie Marsh in
Edgefield, as they had no idea that he had
such a step in contemplation. The fact
is that an engagement had existed between
the young people for sometime past and
Mr. Kinard went up last week on a visit.
While out riding Wednesday afternoon
they decided to postpone the happy day
no longer, so stopping at the Presbyterian
parsonage they were made one by .Kev.
George Burgess.
The happy couple arrived in Bamberg
last Friday night, and are making their
home for the present at Mr. J. I. Kinard's,
father of the groom, on Carlisle street.
The bride is a most charming young lady,
a daughter of Mrs. Emma Marsh, and
Mr. Kinard's many friends sincerely congratulate
him on his good fortune.
A Beautiful Home Wedding.
At Mrs. E. K. Cleckley's residence near
Cope, the relatives and friends of the
family assembled on Tuesday, the 12th
instant, to witness the union of Miss Delle
Jennings, her youngest daughter, and Mr.
D. Laffite, a prosperous young merchant
of Norway. At high noon the strains of
Mendelsshon's wedding march floated
through the rooms, when Mr. Jennings
Cleckley, the bride's brother, and Miss
Kate Laffite, the groom's sister, marched
into the artistically decorated parlor followed
by the bride and groom. Rev. J.
A. Clifton, D. Dm then stepped forward
and pronounced the solemn words which
made the happy young couple husband
and wife. After the usual congratulations,
a sumptuous dinner was served. The
many handsome presents received testified
to the popularity and high esteem of
Mr. Laffite and his charming youtig bride
among their friends. The bride and groom
departed during the afternoon for their
home in Norway, where the best wishes
of relatives and friends follow them for
a life full of happiness and prosperity.?
