Vamp Theatre Closed
Last Friday Evening
. f
The Vamp Theatre, which ha's been
under the management Bf Mr. J. 1.
Sims, of Orangeburg, with .Mr. E.
Cartel' Price as local manager, for .the
past several months, closed indefinite
ly Friday nigin. No previous an
nouncement Had bejpY'fnadc that the
theatre would close and this action on
the part of Mr. Sims came as quite a
surprise to patrons of the house. It
is understood that Mr. Sims' decision
to close was duey to poor receipts
sinJe the closing of all public places
in Barnwell during the recent flu epi
demic. as previous to tha* time good
crowds attended the picture shows al
most every night, while road shows
played to capacity houses.
The theatre bujlditUL-is- owned by
Miv M. C. Dianioml and it is not
kmiw.ii at. this time what his plans are
relative to the eperdti m of the thea
tre. nor could Mr. Price make any
definite statement when seen by a
lepresentative of The People Tuesday.
It is 'to be hopbd. however, that ar
rangements can be made to re q>en
the theatre at an early date.
