their route lay by Bamberg, Blaek-
ville, WillLston and^other towns along
the railroad. When they reached'

heroes. Tables were spread through
out the whole country. There were
baskets of chicken, rice, biscuits,
country hum, boiled wggs. salads, and
everything woman could get uji in a
land where there had been plenty in
the ante-helium days. The boys wer£
greeted liki> brothers and it was here
nuny an old fellow saw his wife and
children for! the first time since he
marched away two years previous.
After one shoih hour with the home
folks*, they said good-bye an 1 passed
on through Denmark, then Crabam’s
Turr-0 t. Isa's, Blaekville, Willislon

following narrative: Frank M. Mix-
soji, a lad of fourteen years, living in

well, was^plqwing when a wagon load
of men passed by «n their way to
Orangeburg, where the famous Ha-
good First S. C. Volunteers were oa - -
ganized. This lad of fourteen drove
his horse into a fence, and, a- he said,

wagon and proceeded to Orangeburg.
When Johnson Hagood looked the
