J. Lemon and her * High School laicals. Miss Edna Creech, accompanied by her brother, Mr. Manly Creech of Florence, spent Sunday at Magnolia Gardens, Charleston. Miss Mineola Grimes spent the week-end at her home in Lees. The members of the eighth grade went on a picnic last Wednesday, chaperoned by Miss Cave and Miss Creech. The party left in automo biles albout 5 o’clock .and returned about 5:.’10. The merry-makers went to lower Saikehatehie bridge * and there had supper at 5 o’clock. Miss Willie Bush Deason, Miles i Hagood, Stephen and Robert Deason and Dr. R. A. Deason motored to GTeenviile for the week-end. Mrs. A. A. Lemon w : th her two dred Coil; Jokes, Maude Brabham. The program was unusually short this week. A debate was scheduled, but, as a contyderable amount of ref erence work was necessary, it was postponed until April 8th. Present: Mayor J. G. Moody, Jr., and Aldermen Davis,Comp ton, Price and Brodie. The following cases Were disposed of: Bill Mims, charged with violation of the prohibition law, demanded a jury trial and his ‘case was set for Friday, April 3rd, at fiw o’clock p. m. Bernard Plexico, charged with ex ceeding the speed limit, was let off with a warning. Cleve Bu'h, charged with -exceed ing the speed limit, was represented by G. M. Greene, Esq., who-demanded a jury trial, and the case was set for Friday, April 3rd, at four o’clock p.m. Walter Patterson, charged' with fighting, was let olf with a warning. V; There ware two cases charging drunkeness, in one of .which the de fendant forfeited his Inind of $10, whilee the other was sentenced to pay a fine of $10 or serve l. r > days on the public works. The fine was paid. Two other cases in which drunken ness was charged were postponed un til next Monday night. After some dtsetission. Council de cided that beginning with the first Sunday in April the drug stores and restaurants shall be allowed to re main nnen until ten o’clock a. m. and 30 p. m.. these daughter, and Mfs. E. D. Robertson motored to Augusta last Wednesday. Miss Ruth Dicks was absent from the 10th grade all last week. Her mother has been ill but as she is im proving Ruth is at school again. We will soon be able to publish the base ball schedule; it is not completed f r . im j p m un tji yet. The boys are attending prae- c; un( jav hours to remain in effect untii (ices faithfully and the school is be coming enthusiastic over base ball. We hope, to have good crowds at our games, as the boys are working hard. T. E. L. Bible Class Meets in Blackville Blackville, March 30.-^The T. E. L. Bible Class of the Blackville Bao- tist Church held its regular monthly business meeting on the evening of .March 20, at the church. Reports from the various officers were sub mitted and the class was thereby en abled to see just .where its strong points are as well as its weak points. At the February meeting of the class, it was decided that the organi zation of the T. E. L.
