When the Navnjos are pressed to
reveal the hideous calamities that
would befall them in the event of
meeting their mother-in-law, they
move uneasily from foot to foot and
evade the Issue. It is horrible to talk
about, hut It Is obvious that meeting
a mother-in-law in Navajo circles is
t^ie very apex of tough luck.
A Navajo will go to any length to
avoid burying a dead man. It is very
