Georgia Lady, Who Had Lost Too

Columbus, Ga.—Mrs. George S.
Hunter, of this city, writes:
“After I married, thirteen months

In my sides during ... My side
hurt so bad it nearly killed me. I
had to go to bed and stay some
times two weeks at a time. I
could not work and I just dragged
around the house.
' “I got very thin—I went from 126
pounds down to less than 100. My
mother had long been a user of
Cardui and she knew what a good
medicine it was for this trouble, so
she told me to get some and take it.

any other compound. The holes tire
drilled exactly as shown in the dia
gram. AM three inductances are wound
on tile same form in such a way that
tin* largest winding acts as tt spacing
for the windings of the remaining two
coils, which incidentally space the
winding of the large coll.
Materials Needed.
The materials iv.piired for tin* con
struction of this coil are as follows:

diameter and three incites long.

a support. The form is drilled Yor the
terminals, three on each end. a ipiar-
ter of an inch from the edge and about
an inch or so apart. Two mounting
holes also are drilled at each end for |
mounting the linished product to tin*.,
condensers. opposite each terminal
hole a small hole is drilled a half-inch ,

coil is on the right of tin* form. Next
in order is the secondary, which is
made up of to turns of No Jd wire and
is Wound for a space of two incites
across 110' form. Tin* third enj] is
t •
carefully followed there should now he
two separate windings of No. J4 wire;
one consisting of nine turns am! an
other of JT. After passing ail terminal
wires to their respective positions
fasten them permanently.
Use Low-Loss Condensers.
Condensers of tin* low loss variety
should he used, as their elRciency
will more than compensate their higher
cost. By connecting the rotary plates
to the terminals, labeled J and the
body capacity effects will he materially
reduced and this will greatly facilitate
the task of tuning in distant stations. 1
The amplifying transformers for 1
this set should not have a higher ratio
than 5:1, and hotter quality will be had
if a is used in the second step.
In laying out the apparatus on a
panel it will he found best to have the
two variable condensers mounted at
ttie extreme left, followed in logical
order by the detector, tirst and second <
stage tube equipment. A suggested |
size for the panel is is by 7 inches.
This ought to he ample for all the ap
paratus tired in this set.
The tuning of tins receiver is rea
sonably simple. It is first necessary to
bring tin* detector rheostat up to tin*
point where self-oscillation begins,
then set the third coil circuit some
where between 0 and 50 degrees on the
4LuT settle. Next turn the secondary
condenser slowly till a “swish” is
heard, which indicates a station. By
carefully tuning the detector rheostat
tin* speech will tie heard. The dial set
tings w ill read approximately the same
for best reception.
In conclusion the writer suggests
that ail leads in* run as short and as
direct as possible. Numerous right-
J
angle bends, are pretty to look at. but
are .lueflicient for high frequency cur
rent paths and shoirid he avoided as
much as possible.—New York Herald.

fully every time you prepare a meal.
Take muffins. How many ttinea have you wished for a
big heaping plateful juat to aurpriaa the folks! You’ll
never taste lighter, better muffins than the kind you make
with self-rising flour. And it’s safe to say that you’ll never
realize how wholesome and delicious they can be unless
they are self-rising flour muffins.
There’s no mystery about self-rising flour or about the
dozens of healthful bakings it gives with so little effort.
It’s just a good grade of plain soft wheat flour with the
right amount of pure phosphate baking powder added
to save time. As in plain flour you can buy the grade
you want—the price you pay determines the grade.
Biscuits, waffles, quick breads, pies and cakes, and any
of the other good things you bake with it, are always
dainty end tasteful.
Look for the Blue Shield on the bag—it’s guaranteed flour.
