Instead of following the usual cus
tom whereby most of the topics are
discussed by the secretaries them
selves, the committee decided upon a
new course of learning for the various
secretaries of the state. The general
subject will be “South Carolina’s Nat
ural Resources ” Lectures and discus
sions will'be heard upon forestation
and rejorestation. marketing, includ
ing cotton and potatoes, hydro-electric
possibilities, crop diversification and

ports development by men who are
familiar with those subjects
Mr Moon stated for the Newberry
chamber ot commerce that a royal wel
come awaited the secretaries. A lunch

when an explosion and fire followed
the pouring of gasoline on live coals
in the belief that it was kerosene.
The dead are A. F. Brown. 4s. and
his wife. 45. both of whom succumb-
ed shortly"after they had been re
moved to a hospital. A child was
painfully but not seriously hurt.
The fire originated in a restau
rant operated by Abe Browns, which
was destroyed.
