th« Trl State Pair, to be held here
©i'tober 27-Novembar 1. haa be«in ua
tirely revised under th« dlroctlou and
•upervislon of Mrs Arnold Freeman.
Speaking of her plana for the 1J24
fair, Mrs. Freeman aaya:
“Believing that there la no more
important ('«lllug In the world than
that of—tu> mama king and that there
are no people who are making a
greater contribution to aociety at large
than the group of women wlm have the
raaponalblllty for making the homea of
our land. It la our dealre to ao organ-
l»e the Women’s Departtn«nt of the
'Tri-State Exposition that ell home,
makers may find It a very real help
aiivd Inspiration to them In their borne
problems. '"l.
“We are planning to encourage all
phases of women’s work which we be
lieve to be valuable and worth while
by offering prizes for the beat ex
hibits of su<’b work which are enter
ed by the women In the Women’s
Department.
“We Intend also to make the Expo
•♦tlon a real educational inatltutton
whore interested women may receive
tnatructlon In the many phases of the
'homemakers' problem*, and with this
Idea In mind we hope to have typical
particles which may be shown as rep
resenting a worthy standard which
whould be recognised as desirable In
jwach class.
“Score cards will be posted showing
tpoint* considered by the .lodges In
making awards, and the relative
lvalues of each Specialists In the
various lines of work from the Agrl
-cultural college will be the ^Judges and
will be glad to explain In detail the
-reason* upon which decisions have
been, based and point out defects as
'well a* offer suggestions for Improve
ment in the work exhibited
“Women of South Georgia are show
»tag their keen Interest and determine
ttlon to put their homes on a high
standard of efficiency through the
work they are now doing In about one
■hundred Homemakers' Clubs organised
^throughout the state hjr the Extension
'Division of the Agricultural college.
Many women are already enrolled fn
these ('lulls, end every day brings
more applications for clubs to the dusk
of the home demonstration leader.
We believe that these women will
be Interested in showing to other
homemakei'H some of Hie things which
they have proved to be valuable to
homemakers through demonstration!
worked out In th* ir clubs, and we are
therefore planning to provide for dem
oust rat Ion Ismths at the fair where
groups of women may put on such
demonstrations as seem to offer real
assistance to all women Interested In
home problems
“These Homemakers’ riubs are a!
ready becoming a real force In their
own communities and are building up
a fine spirit of fellowship and co-op
eration among the families whoae
homes are near enough together so
that their Interests and problems are
very similar, and because we are con
vinced that through community Inter
e*t and co-operation we may hope for
the attainment of higher Ideals and
standards of living, we are hoping
to promote greater community spirit
and cordial cooperation in the com
munity exhibits for which we are of
ferlng worth while prizes this year.
"As this will be quite a new depart
tn*nt. we shall make no hard and fast
rules regarding those exhibit# but
shall permit the various communlttos
to use their own Ideas In planning the
exhibit which they believe will most
truly represent the lnt«re#t or achieve
ment of their particular < group Any
or all phasee of women's work may
properly be stressed In the common
Ity exhibit, and it is hoped that many
communities which are building up
fine standards at home may help to
further the good work by bringing to
the fair exhibits which will not only
reflect credit upon themselves but
which may Inspire others to unite
their own forces and fake an active
part In promoting .Interest In more
efficient homemaking in their own
communities.
“So may we hope. Individually and
as communities, to do our part In
bringing about better living condt
tlons in our .great state of Georgia.
