Scrnie sewn oi' eiprht years a^o Wil

orchard. To that end he set about
two-thirds of an acre iji peaches, with
the aasLstapce, advice and coopeia*
tion of a courtly agent, along with
the specrrtlLst that he hud with him

from time to time.
Mr. Hutson soon learned the funda
mental principals of the care and at
tention of an orchard. He grew very
much interested in it and liked the
work, therefore, soon had what we
call a good home* orchard ' In 1912
Mr. Hutson's orchard was about five
years 0^1 and although Tu- had a largp
family of hoys who, ate peaches from
May until August, and a great many
of thes<! peaches were canned for
winter use and some. were.given to
relatives and friends, Mr. Hutson soi l
from this small orchard of about (50
or 70 tre& $100 worth of |>OHchos.
They were bought by people living
as far <iiKtant as 36 or 40 miles, and
Mr. Hutson says that he has no trou
ble selling all the peaches has to spare
fnnn his farm, the folks come there
to get them
As a it suit of this piece of work
with Mr. Hutson, other, farmers have
become intere-stod frim rime l,. litre
in setting: oivhards and giving them
better care and attention, an<l at thi:
time there aiv tihout 12 t<i 16•farmers
in this community who arc either set
ting new orchards or tenovating thyir
old orchards, giving their orchards
the projHM - caiv and attention in the
way of pruning, spraying, etc. There
are some live or six new orchards just
i*eing set, or which were set last year,
and Mr. Hutson is still very enthusi
astic over his horyie orchard work, and
is now setting one-liair acre in new
trees. Jn conversation with him re*
cently while looking over his orchard,
he stated bo me that he was going to
sot some new trees and 1 asked him
us to whether he thought that, there
would be a probability of. getting too
