Barnwell’s Hospitality
Barnwell is noted for a number of
things, but the things for which it is
famous above all ethers are its many
beautiful homes and its fine old-fash
ioned hospitality.
At the banquet in honor of the foot
ball team at the Hotel Diamond Fri
day evening, Mr. W. J. Root, in a
short talk, stated that, unfortunately,
he had been born beyond the borders
of the Palmetto Sfkte and for many
years, like Ponce de Leon in search of
the Fountain of Youth, he had been
in search of that old time Southern
hospitality of which the poets have
sung This search, he said, came to
an end when he landed in Barnwell.
