At the banquet in honor of the foot ball team at the Hotel Diamond Fri day evening, Mr. W. J. Root, in a short talk, stated that, unfortunately, he had been born beyond the borders of the Palmetto Sfkte and for many years, like Ponce de Leon in search of the Fountain of Youth, he had been in search of that old time Southern hospitality of which the poets have sung This search, he said, came to an end when he landed in Barnwell.
