EVANGELISTIC CAMPAIGN TO START AT DUNBARTON HAMPTON MAN SHOT TO DEATH LATE SATURDAY Revival Services Begin Sunday, June 3, and Continue 2 Weeks. Dunbarton, May 21.—The Con certed Baptist Evangelistic Cam paign is to begin at the Baptist Church Sunday morning, June 3rd at 11:30, and will continue for two full weeks, to Sunday June 17th, in clusive. The pastor, the Rev. Will O. Gordon, will be his own evange list, with Mr. Frank McCravey as chorister and soloist. A choir of thirty to forty voicfes will be organiz ed at once. Prof. H. H. King will have this feature of the work in charge until the coming of Mr. Mc Cravey, when the choir will be turn ed over to his command. Mr. Mc Cravey is * splendid choir director and a fine singer, and the tinging will be one of the great features in this evangelistic campaign. Mr. Gordon, the pastor, has had a wMe experience as an evangelist. Dave Lightsey Lodged in Jail on Charge of Homicide. BARNWELL HIGH SCHOOL CLOSES FINE SESSIOJ RANKERS OF- BARNWELL HEAR EXCELLENT TALK Springfield, May 17.—That Buist Juniper came to his death from a gunshot wound inflicted by his own hand was the verdict rendered at the inquest today .held over the body of Mr. Jumper, who died Wednesday night at hia father’s home. His tragic end shocked this community as have few events in recent years. Fennell, a prominent citizen of Hampton, was shot and instantly killed about 5:45 o’clock this after noon by Dave Lightsey, a farmer who resides about three miles from Hampton. The fat» s shooting took place in the store occupied by Joab Mauldin. Details are lacking, but it is alleged that both men wer? armed and each began shooting,' though it is not known who Tired first. Mr. Fennell was shot four times, thr»e of the wounds being mortal. Mr. Lightsey was arrested immediately and .placed in jail. Friday evening a large audience was pre sent at the oratorical ftcontest, the winner of which was Miss Maude Brabham. On this occasion the contestants in the Home Bank’s “Four Power Pact” contest read their essays and the prizes were awarded, as follows: First prize, Julian Harrison; second prize, Charlie Still; third prize. W. Long being the guest of hon or. The gathering was a get-togeth er meeting for the purpose of dis cussing the problems confronting the farmers of this section and it^is believed that much good will result therefrom. Following an excellent dinner. Dr Long was introduced by Col. Harry D. Calhoun, of this city, and made an instructive talk.
