the engineer, and John Curtain, the

Charlottesville hospital.- Harring
ton and Curtain were hurled 100
feet.
Traffic on the road w'as blocked
for five^hours by the accident. The
locomotive was said to have been
one bf the biggest in the service 'of
the road. , The cause of the ex
plosion is not known. •

Denver, Colo.—The slain mint
bandit, whose frozen' body was
found seated in an automobile In
a private garage, and regarded by
the police as the master mind of
a desperate gang of criminals,
was identified at J. C. SHoan, of
Casper, Wyo. Itugg Williams, chief
of Denver police, said he was one
of the men tho police have sought
since December 18, last, when rob
bers made away wMth $200,000 in
currency from a federal reserve
bank'truck in front of the mint,
killing Charles T. Linton, a guard.
Sloan, it was, the police say, who
offered himseif as a target, stand
ing upon the running board of thp
bandit car as it sped away and
desperately firing at mint guards.
Sloan's body was found with a
bullet in the heart and police de
clare he was instantly killed by
a bullet from the revolver of Pete
Keidinger, a guard employed at the
mint. . -

Arkansas cutting off all federal aid
funds for the building of public roads
until alleged irregularities within that
