Mr. and Mrs. Elmore Ashley and

escape one day last week when the
automobile in which they were rid
ing was struck by a train near Rob
bins and turned bver. Mr. Ashley
sustained a broken shoulder, but
his wife and daughter were unin
jured. Their frignds in this section
are glad that they escaped so light-

Visits Clem,son College.
Col. Edgar A. Brown, of this city,
left Monday morning for Charleton
on professional business. From
there he went to Clemson College
Tuesday in company with about 15
other members of the House of Re
presentatives upon the invitation
of President W. M. Riggs. They will
be the guests of that institution for
a couple of days, during which they
will make a personal inspection of
the college.
