THOS. G. MCLEOD ENTERS
THE RACE.JE0BLG0VERNOR
Former Lieutenant-Governor Has
Thrown His Hot in the Ring.
Of interest to the voters through
out the State is the announcement of
the Hon, Thos. G. McLeod, of Bishop-
ville, that he will be a candidate for
Governor in the coming primaries.
It was rumored, at the recent State
Democratic Convention in Columbia
that Mr. McLeod would probably
enter the race and he received en
couragement from every section of
the State. He is not unknown to the
voters of Barnwell County and the
State at large, having served South
Carolina as Lieutenant-Governor a
number of years ago and being at
one time a candidate for Governor,
being nosed out of the second race by
C. C. Featherstone, of Greenwood,
who was defeated by C. L. Blease.
Mr. McLeod is an able business
man, r.n astute politician and is
broad-guaged enough to rise above
petty factionalism. So far as this
writer is able to ascertain, he is the
most acceptable candidate who has
