February 1 and wishes the prayer

School in the efforts to select a
successor. The Sunday School re
grets to give Mr. Collins up but he
insists that a new superintendent
might improve the school.

weekly visits to Miss Marie Cornell,
•who is in school at Harrisonburg,
Va. She is the attractive daughter
of Mrs. Marie T. Cornell, of Barn-
yell.
Mr. S. J. Keel, a prosperous young
far mar living on Elko route 1. is
anmyig the new subscribers to The
People this week. He is making
money on his farm in spite of the
boll weevil and his system is a com
paratively simple one. He always
brings something to tpwn to sell.

ceipt of an account of the death of
Mr. Henry^G. Dclk, which is. Signed
by a committee of three gentlemen.
Inasmuch as it is almost identically
the same as an account that ap-
pered in last week’s issue it is not
being published.
The People’s good friend, Mr. S.
J. Carroll, of Elko route 1, was a
valler at this office Saturday after
noon to renew his subscription. Mr.
Carroll says that he will plant only
three acres of cotton^jEo tfie; plow
this year where he planted ten last
year. He intends to increase his
watermelon acreage as he says that
he cleared enough off of 11 acres in
1921 to pay that year’s debts and a
little on those of 1920. He has the
right idea about fighting the boll
