I. Saul's Burning Hatred of Jesus
(w. 1, 2).
Saul knew full well that unless the
movement set on foot by Jesus was
stopped It would supersede Judaism,
but he was entirely ignorant of the
genius of Christianity. Christianity
thrives on persecution. Prosperity may
ruin the church, but persecution
never.
The noble display of faith by
Stephen In sealing his testimony with
his blodd did not soften Saul’* spirit,
but rather Intensified his hatred for
Jesus and His disciples. It made him
more determined than ever to stamp
out this Nasarene heresy. The In
tensity of his madness and the extent
of its operations are best set forth In
his own words (see Acts 22: 4 sad
Acts 26:10-12). He obtained authority
from the chief priests to carry os this
murderous work.

Lord encouraged him to go, assuring

the house where Saul was staying,

Lord had sent him with a twofold
mission: (1)’ “That thou mightiest
receive thy sight i" (2) “Be filled jrlth

south-rider, who once rode Ute range
on the Colorado plateaus, staked out
his cats to keep them at home. The
plan worked fine and now the feline
animals get the air every day at the
ends of tether ropes.
The cat owner found that every
time he opened the cellar door the
pets made a break for the dpen, fre
quently staying awiy for.days and
returning with blackened eyes and
sere i died hides. He thought of the
tethei plan, but the first trial was not
success, as the cate slipped the
nooses from their necks. He then
evolved a semi-hobble plan and tied
the heavy string to one of.the cat’s
hind legs, attaching the other end of
the string to a stake driven In the
back yard.

now every day three of the cats take
their exercise around their tether
