—Messrs. Clarence and Hamilton
Owens spent Monday in Aiken as
the (ruests of their cousin, Miss Lucy
Katherine Easterlinff. ^ -
Mr. Daman McCreary of Miami,
Fla, stopped over for a short visit
to his aunt, Mrs. Carey E. Smith,
last week. Mr. McCreary is another
one of ' the Williston boys who has
gone into the outside world and made
good. He is a prominent hotel man
autd has made a great success of his
business.
Mrs. J. P. Joyner, her daughter and
son Windsor, were guests of Mr. and
Mrs. D. S. Smoak last Sunday.
Miss Edna Lott, who has been
visiting in Johnston and other points,
has returned to Williston.
Mrs. J. B. Reel, who has been on
a visit to her mother, Mrs. D. L.
Merrit, returned to her home last
Sunday.
i Mrs. J. W. Odiome has as her
guests Mrs. Sue Harvin and son, of
Manning.
The regularly monthly meeting of
Hart’s Battery Chapter, U. D. C.,
will be held with Mrs. Neil Courtney,
this afternoon, Friday June 24th, at
five o’clock. All members will
please take notice and be governed
accordingly.
The many friends of Mrs. H. C.
Hair will regret to know that several
members of her family are ill with
typhoid fever. It Is hoped that
they will speedily recover.
Miss Hattie Newsom is visiting
her sister in Bamberg.
Mr. Schiffley, of Orangeburg, was
a visitor in Williston Wednesday of
last week at which time he perfected
the organization of the Junior Order.
Announcement regarding officers of
the Williston lodge will be made
shortly.
Mr. J. W. Toole of Aiken was a
visitor in Williston Thursday of last
week.
The many friends of Mr. Manly
Rankin will be glad 10 know that he
is doing well and hopes to be home
soon.
Miss Alice Scott is spending a few
days with Mrs. E. G. Fletcher in Co.

pa, Fla., came to Elko last week in
response to a telegram announcing
the death of their brother, Mr. Ash
ley Stansell, last wcok. Mr. Stansell
left Sunday for Tampa via Charles
ton to visit relatives at the latter
place. Mrs. Stansell will visit here
for several days before returning to
Olando. She will be accompanied to
Florida the last of the month by her
sister, Mrs. Rosa G. Stansell, our
postmistress, and her daughter, Miss
Mary.
Mr. Bleaker Lanneau, of Charles
ton, is spending some time with rela
tives in Elko.

Allendale To Build Court House
Plans will be ready for contractors
July 20th for the building of a court-
hofuse and jail at Allendale, S. C. The
plans are being drawn by G. Lloyd
Preacher and Co. The county of
Allendale has already voted and sold
bonds for the erection of a court
house and jail and the money is in
the bank. If is expected that the
contract will be awarded about the
first of August.
The town of Fairfax has voted a
$50,000 bond issue for the erection of
a new school building and plans are
being drawn by G. Lloyd Preacher
and Co. It will be several weeks' be
fore bid* will be requested.—Augusta
