TRADE AT HOME.
The People cannot urpe too strong
ly upon its readers the necessity for
trading at home, for it is only in this
way that we can hope to build up oUr
town, our schools and our county. In
no other way can we hope to have
paved streets and good roads and the
many other modest - improvements
that a progressive community de
mands and needs. Money spent with
merchants in other cities is gone from
this particular community forever, to
help build up the prosperity of an
other section. Money spent at home
jjtays here to give YOU the improve
ments that you have a right to ex
pect
Realizing this fact, a number of
the progressive"’merchants of Barn
well, together with the three banks,
have contracted with this paper for
a page advertisement wherein they
will wet forth from week to week vital
reasons for the necessity of people-
trading at home. These merchants
are our own people, they have in
vested their money in our town be
cause they believe in its future, and
they have u right to expect the whole
hearted support of their fellow citi
zens, for as was pointed out last
week, “YOU CANNOT PROSPER
UNLESS YOUR NEIGHBOR PROS
PERS.” Whatever helps the indi
vidual must also help the community
as a whole.
' Aside from the fact that* it is good
business and to your own interest
to trade at home, there is the matter
of convenience to be considered, When
you walk into a store here and ask
for an article of merchandise, you
get it immediately. You don’t have
to go to the trouble of writing an or
der and then wait for an indefinite
length of time to got what you are
required to pay for in advance.
And remember another thing, when
you arc in need of gn article and can
not pay for it right then, your home
merchant is always glad to . extend
you any reasonable credit. Can you
expect this kind of treatment from
the merchants in cities where you are
not known ?
Think the matter over and resolve
to help build up your own community
by patronizing your home merchants.

a few hours on Sunday.
Some of the young people of this
community enjoyed a fish fry bn the
bunks of the Lower Three Runs one
afternoon last week.
The farmers of this section seem to
he reducing their cotton acreage to
a minimum this season. Almost all * ' ^ ^
of the liest lands are being planted in
corn, and with favorable conditions
a fine quantity of foodstuffs ought to
be produced.
