al election they are vitally interested.
They have on their hands no local
fights. Their interest in the presi
dential campaign while keen is not
so active as that of the Northern,
Eastern and Western Democrats who
are bearing burden of battles both in
their state and in the nation.
The Southern Democrats, however,
should take an active part and not be
merely interested bystanders in this
great contest It is to be hoped, for
the good of the Democratic party and
for the good of the nation and for
their own good that they contribute
ao largely as they can to tho Demo
cratic campaign fend.
